God Doesn’t Want you Bringing Dead Cats to His Door — 17 Comments

  1. Amen and Amen indeed. He is ever merciful and yet we like to revisit that crime scene when He has already forgiven us and removed all the stains.
Psalm 103: 12. May we learn to press on.

    • I think satan wants us to go back to the 'dead cat' so that we feel God hasnt forgiven us our past. Undermining the power of God's grace

      Amen

  2. Good news, thanks William, this is what the Gospel is all about. God want us to remember the past, not by the mistakes we have made, but by how He had led us. The positive aspects we must dwell on, only then will we get positive results. What we think we are. We think we are the children of God, by faith we are. Romans 8:16. Hebrews 10:23.

  3. By faith we need to change our human nature into a spiritual nature through the power of the Holy Spirit. There is nothing we can do of our own. All our righteousness is as filthy rags. Our memory is there to teach us from our past errors.

  4. Very good William : Learning to forgive ourselves and others brings about wholeness not holiness only Christ can do that for us, just like he did for Paul. Have a Bless day.

  5. Great word. I cant recall how many times i have had to think over certain issues again and again. It is very reassuring to know that God really wants us to forge ahead and do more other important things. The time spent worrying about the past for many is too much that even sparing time to talk to God becomes difficult. May God help us to learn.

  6. When we bring up our past mistakes that God has already forgiven we are telling God we don't have the confidence that He is able to forgive us the first time

  7. Amen, thank you for the post. This happened to me just yesterday. My boss wants me to be at work today, which is the sabbath day. I requested to be excused and she said NO before I could even tell her why I wanted to see her. The devil started reminding me of the times I didn't keep the sabbath holy and all the other sins I committed. I almost felt like giving in but I later thought about it and said the past is past, I'm going to church despite her refusal. Pray for me brethren

  8. Wonderful* What a great reminder of what our attitude should be after receiving grace.

When we are washed by the blood of Christ, we must forever remember that our stains are not just covered but they are removed.

Free at last, we must live our lives accordingly and do unto others as God has done for you.

    Thank You*

    • Quote: "When we are washed by the blood of Christ . . . our stains are not just covered but they are removed."

No, our sins are blotted out - "removed" - only when we are sealed (Revelation 7:3 "Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads."). Just as in the earthly sanctuary system (Leviticus 16), where the sins accumulated throughout the year (covered by the blood of the daily) and then on the Day of Atonement they were blotted out by the blood of the bullock and the lamb through sprinkling on the mercy seat in the MHP and also applied to the horns of the altar of incense in the HP, even so our sins are not removed until OUR personal Day of Atonement(sealing)(Check out what the Great Disappointment in 1844 was all about).
Why? because we might want them back. God does not use force, or apply cheap grace - once saved always saved. You want your sins back? He will let you have them and your old life, even though it brings Him pain.

      • The Great Disappointment was about people who were reading God's Word and misinterpreting it. God's Word interprets Itself. After the Great Disappointment, people began to invite the Holy Spirit to open their minds to what Scripture said rather than thinking it was saying what THEY thought it said. God directed them to the sanctuary service of the Israelites in the Wilderness of Sinai. God gave Moses a pattern of what God showed him in heaven from which Moses was to make on earth a symbol of the heavenly.
When disappointed Adventists studied that symbol, their understanding of how the removal of sin from a life works. When we also study it, asking for the Holy Spirit to open our understanding, He will show us the same, according to Jesus' promise (John 16:13).

  9. William....what a great analogy....I have always wondered about these past forgiven sins and what to do with them. Now I have somewhere to direct them.
I will tell this story again and again to friends and in my journey spreading the Word. Blessings

  10. Luke 9:62 "And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

This thought [to my mind,] is companion to the idea of Lot's wife looking back. I've understood these things to be referring to people looking back [with longing] to their former worldly pleasures etc. But I wonder now whether this "looking back" (which un-fits us for the kingdom of God,) can also include feelings of doubt with regards to the forgiveness of God.

  11. I am humbled by this reminder. How often I have sinned and asked for forgiveness and God forgave me, yet still I keep reminding Him of my actions... He wants me to move on..Amen... Beautiful... Thank you William for this timely reminder.

  12. Amen, when once forgiven we need to lean on to Jesus Christ because the devil has been always the accuser of God's people. Remember how he accused Moses tomb, May we wear righteousness as our breast plate
