Key Thought: Revelation describes Satan’s attacks during Christian history. In the three-fold alliance of these beasts, they will oppose God and seek to unite the world.

1. Have a volunteer read Revelation 13:1-4, 8.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- How do the four beasts, the heads of blasphemy, and the issue of worship tell us who this beast power is?
(Note: Daniel 7 –the four beasts were Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. Pagan Rome gave him his sat of government, power, and authority. It is a religious power. Blasphemy is claiming to be God and claiming to forgive sins.) - Personal Application: How are we to be sure that we don’t worship the beast or the image when the whole world will How can we be sure not to be deceived? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “How does this beast receive a deadly wound and get healed so that the whole world would worship him?.” How would you respond to your relative?
(Note: After the Church ruled from 538AD to 1798AD (1,260 years) as a religious/political power, Berthier marched into Rome and put the Pope in prison. Rome’s political power was lost until Benito Mussolini gave the Papacy Vatican City as a separate political state, healing the wound. Now all nations have an ambassador to the Roman Church as a political nation.)
2. Have a volunteer read Revelation 13:5-8.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What is this forty and two months that the beast was given power for?
(Note: 42 months times 30 days equals 1,260 days or years. In 538 Justinian’s Code and the defeat of the Ostrogoths sealed the Roman Church as the European power until 1798, exactly 1,260 years later.) - Personal Application: How can we remain faithful and yet be kind and cautious as we present these truths to others? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “How does this religious system blaspheme God, His name, tabernacle, and the heavenly host?” How would you respond to your friend?
(Note: This man of sin sits in the temple of God showing himself that he is God. Instead of praying to Jesus for forgiveness, they substitute the confessional, Mariolatry, penances, prayers for the dead, purgatory, and limbo. During the Dark Ages, the Crusades, and Inquisitions, they are reported to have killed over 50 million people. The heavenly sanctuary with Jesus as our High Priest is replaced by the earthly temple, and an earthly priesthood.)
3. Have a volunteer read Revelation 13:11-13
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What clues do we have that tells us who the second beast is?
(Note: The second beast arose after 1798 when the first beast got a deadly wound. It comes up away from the populated areas of the world – away from Europe. Its power was like a lamb – religious liberty and individual freedom. No crowns on its horns – no king or pope at the head. It points to the US formed in 1776 and rosing to power like a silent seed in the early 1800’s.) - Personal Application: How could the United States, founded upon religious freedom, ever speak as a dragon-like Pagan or Papal Rome in taking away religious freedom? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “What is this fire that the second beast causes to come down from heaven on the earth? Is this nuclear weapons like the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
(Note: Fire in the Bible represents the presence of God. Mose’s burning bush, Elijah’s fire, Israel in the desert with the pillar of fire, and the Pentecostal fire in Acts 2. All indicated the presence of God: that God was with them. But this is a false fire making people think God is with them, but belonging to the beast, dragon, and false prophet.)
4. Have a volunteer read Revelation 13:16,17.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What is the mark of the beast? What does it mean to receive it in the forehead or the hand?
(Note: To receive it in the forehead is to believe in it. In the hand means you don’t believe it, but you’ll accept it rather than be fined, persecuted, jailed, or killed..) - Personal Application: How can the government keep people from buying or selling? How can they control the economy? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
