Faith or Presumption? — 3 Comments

  1. I appreciate your article. It helps me understand arrogance as mentioned in a previous ss lesson several weeks ago. My 1st thought was how then can we have joy if we don’t have assurance that He will protect us when we ask. Than the Holy Spirit put this in my mind because I asked Him to guide my thoughts. He said you have Jesus in your heart and me to guide you to an obedient relationship with the Father, that is what brings you joy and comfort. Come what may, I am with you even to the end. Matthew 28:20. Have faith my friends, have faith. For there in ye find peace. John 14:27. Romans 5:1-5.

    • Yes, I have that same faith today. God is good to me and my family. Presumption only destroys faith. That is why with the recomendation of Ellen White I don’t worry about my salvation, I have faith that He saves those that turn to Him. I do so on a daily baisis. I head the word of the Lord. Which builds trust in Him.

We should not make self the center and indulge anxiety and fear as to whether we shall be saved. All this turns the soul away from the Source of our strength. Commit the keeping of your soul to God, and trust in Him. Talk and think of Jesus. Let self be lost in Him. Put away all doubt; dismiss your fears. Say with the apostle Paul, “I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20. Rest in God. He is able to keep that which you have committed to Him. If you will leave yourself in His hands, He will bring you off more than conqueror through Him that has loved you. Proverbs 3:5-12.
[5-12] Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.
