Wednesday: The True Worshipers

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 7, 2011 by Sabbath School LessonMay 27, 2015avatar

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” (John 4:23). After pointing the Samaritan away from specific places of worship and then telling her of the superiority of the Jewish faith over hers, Jesus then … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Worshiping What You Know Not

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 6, 2011 by Sabbath School LessonMay 27, 2015avatar

As we have seen numerous times, even with all the intricate and deep forms of worship that the Lord had instituted for Israel, it was not the forms alone that the Lord cared about. The forms and traditions and liturgy were all means to an end, and that end was a person surrendered in body … Continue reading –>

Sunday: Mary’s Song of Praise and Worship

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 4, 2011 by Sabbath School LessonMay 27, 2015avatar

Though Mary, the mother of Jesus, has been the subject of an intense amount of religious interest through the centuries, most of that interest is tradition derived from a host of sources that are not rooted in Scripture. Nevertheless, in the question of Christ’s coming to earth, Mary played a crucial and pivotal role: in … Continue reading –>

10: Worship from the Exile to the Restoration – Discussion Questions

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 1, 2011 by Joyce GriffithJuly 14, 2014Joyce Griffith

A TRUE STORY A few weeks ago I saw a strange and brilliant display of color and watched for a minute or two as lovely pastel colors floated in perfect circles in a row across my vision. Most of my vision was blocked by the display except for a slice along the bottom portion. I … Continue reading –>

10: From Exile to Restoration – Teaching Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 29, 2011 by Michael FrackerJuly 14, 2014Michael Fracker

Key Thought: There is temptation to relax our vigilance in God’s service and conform to worldly customs. Confession, repentance, and obedience are still responsibilities for God’s presence among His people.
1. Have a volunteer read Ezekiel 8:9-14.

Significance of the Sabbath

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 29, 2011 by Andrew S. Baker (ASB)September 9, 2014avatar

Too often, discussions about the importance or relevance of the Sabbath focus on what to do (or not to do) on the Sabbath. This inevitably leads to arguments which are usually unproductive. Instead of the Do/Don’t aspect of the Sabbath, let us briefly consider its significance and relevance to us today. The Sabbath reminds us … Continue reading –>

Seventh-day Adventists – a Special People?

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 29, 2011 by Andrew S. Baker (ASB)September 15, 2012avatar

The Seventh-day Adventist church is a prophetic movement which God raised up for the furtherance of the gospel after centuries of apostasy by His church. This makes us special in terms of responsibility. We’re not special because of any intrinsic value that we have, but we have a special message and we are a called … Continue reading –>

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 24, 2011 by Joyce GriffithNovember 22, 2015Joyce Griffith

A S T O R Y “Is being a Christian easy or hard?” Mike asked. “Easy,” said Ted. “If you love Jesus, then following Him is the easiest thing in the world to do.” “But what if people poke fun at you or ignore you because you’re a Seventh-day Adventist Christian? Is that easy?” “No, … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
