Friday: Further Thought ~ The Sabbath and the End

Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought:  “The reason provided … to worship God is that He is the Creator. In the heavenly liturgy, celestial beings expressed the idea in a very succinct way: ‘For You created all things’ ([Rev.] 4:11, [NKJV]). On earth, God’s creatorship needs to be emphasized as much as possible, so the angel says, ‘Worship Him who … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Sabbath and Eternal Rest

Sabbath Rest

The Sabbath is a place of refuge in a weary world. Each week we leave the cares of this world and enter God’s retreat center — the Sabbath. The famed Jewish author, Abraham Heschel, calls the Sabbath “a palace in time.” — The Sabbath: Its Meaning for Modern Man (New York: Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, 2005), p. … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: Creation, the Sabbath, and the End Time

Image of the Beast

The great controversy, which began in heaven millennia ago, was over the question of God’s authority. The challenge remains the same today, as well. Read Revelation 14:7, Revelation 14:9, and Revelation 14:12. Summarize these verses by completing the sentences on the lines below. Revelation 14:7 is a call to _________________ Revelation 14:9 is a solemn appeal not to _________________ Revelation … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: A Not-So-Subtle Deception

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 15, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 9, 2023avatar
Large Statue of a Man's Head

In an attempt to destroy the uniqueness of our creation, the devil has introduced a not-so-subtle counterfeit. The counterfeit, accepted by even some among us, goes like this. God is the prime cause of creation, but He took long ages to bring life into existence. Evolution was the process He used. This approach attempts to … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Sabbath and Creation

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 14, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 14, 2023avatar
The Seventh Day

It is because our world so desperately needs the reassuring message of Creation that God gave us the Sabbath. In the mid-1800s when the evolutionary hypothesis was taking the intellectual world by storm, God sent a message of incredible hope. We have been studying this message, found in Revelation 14:6-7. Satan has made every attempt to … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The Judgment, Creation and Accountability

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 13, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 12, 2023avatar
Judgment

If we are merely a collection of randomly formed cells, simply the product of chance and an advanced African ape, nothing more, then life has little meaning. If we are merely one of the estimated eight billion people clawing at one another for living space on a planet called earth, life loses its purpose, other … Continue reading –>

Sobered by God’s Grace By Dale Wolcott Back in the 1970s, two sets of Navajo parents, unknown to each other, sent their teenagers to live in the dormitories at Holbrook Seventh-day Adventist Indian School, located 100 miles (160 km) away from home. At Holbrook, boy met girl, boy and girl both met Jesus, and they … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought ~ Worshiping the Creator

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 11, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonApril 28, 2023avatar
Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought:  The worship of God is central in the Scriptures and has always been a bone of contention to humans and to God’s people. Throughout the Old Testament the prophets reprimanded the people of God for worshiping other gods or for worshiping the Lord using the worship practices of the pagan world. The conflict … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Creator on the Cross

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 10, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonApril 28, 2023avatar
Christ suffering on Cross

However much we can and do marvel and worship the Lord as our Creator, there’s more to it. As we have already seen, but worth looking at again, is the idea that our Creator is also our Redeemer. The God who created us is the same God who redeemed us. The God who said, “Let … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
