Part 4: Plotting With Spirits By Andrew McChesney Months passed before Mother and Junior learned why Father had abandoned them for two months and lived in the Candomblé temple in Manaus, Brazil. It was because Junior wanted to become a Seventh-day Adventist. After seeing a man baptized at Alpha Seventh-day Adventist Community Church, Junior told … Continue reading –>

People Holding Up Cross

A song goes like this: “I am a rock, I am an island.” Have you ever felt like that — wanting to stand alone? You may even have heard people say, “Well, my walk with God is a private affair. It’s not something I want to talk about.” Read Ephesians 4:11-16. What’s the point Paul is … Continue reading –>

Bible on Fire

Yesterday we looked at the importance of character for those waiting for the Second Coming. Today we will look more specifically at the importance of character for those who are alive at the second coming of Jesus. Read Daniel 12:1-10. What is the context? What time in earth’s history is being referred to? Most important, what … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Jesus’ Last Words

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 18, 2022 by Sabbath School LessonAugust 29, 2022avatar
Be Prepared

Jesus was in Jerusalem, about to die. According to Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus’ last teaching hour before Passover is spent telling His disciples parables, including the ones about the ten virgins and the sheep and the goats. These stories are related to the way we should live as we wait for Jesus to come. Thus their … Continue reading –>

Christ, Refiner, Purifier

It’s one thing to be in a battle; it’s another not even to see the forces arrayed in that battle. In a sense, this is what we as Christians deal with. We know that the forces are out there, we can feel them in our lives, and yet, we have to press ahead in faith, … Continue reading –>

Sunday: “In His Image”

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 16, 2022 by Sabbath School LessonAugust 29, 2022avatar
From Angry to Happy Face

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29, NKJV). In the beginning, God made us in His image (Genesis 1:27), but that image has been corrupted by sin. In what ways do we see this defacing of God’s image … Continue reading –>

Inside Story: South American Division ~ Part 3: Abandoned by Father

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 14, 2022 by Sabbath School LessonAugust 29, 2022avatar

Part 3: Abandoned by Father By Andrew McChesney Father always seemed to be angry after Mother told him that she was going to the Adventist church. Every little thing irritated him. One night, he exploded with rage when Mother arrived home late from a church event. The next morning, Mother arrived at the dental clinic, … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
