1. Open the Gift of Prophecy!
Since we are studying God’s “Gift of Prophecy” to us, I think it is fitting that we actually read what God is saying to us through His last-day gift to His church. How about you?
Lesson 1:
Patriarchs and Prophets, Chapters 2: “The Creation” and Chapter 3: “The Falll,” OR for a shorter version, read Beginning of the End, Chapter 2: Creation, God’s Answer to Evolution and Chapter 3: The Predicament of our First Parents.

If you haven’t read these chapters before, you might want to start with the modern “digest” version of Beginning of the End, and then you can read the full version later. Either way, you’ll be thoroughly blessed! Open the gift and read!
Paul tells us that
When he ascended on high,
he took many captives
and gave gifts to his people. (Eph. 4:7, quoting Psalm 68:18))… So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:11-13 NIV)
Did you get that? When Christ gave gifts to His church, He gave people!! I didn’t just make that up. Go back and read the text in the Bible to see that the “gifts” He gave were the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers. So Ellen White was literally Christ’s gift to our church.
She is resting till Jesus comes, but she left behind a rich heritage of writings so that God’s gift can continue to speak. Let’s make sure we open the gift and read. Through her writings, I learned to love the Bible because I found them easier to understand.
