11: From Battle to Victory – Singing with Inspiration
The hymn used as the theme for this quarter is from “The Church Hymnal, Official Hymnal of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church” which was surpassed by the “Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal” in 1985.In the ‘old’ hymnal,
Number 497 – Standing by a Purpose True, that is, ”Dare to be a Daniel” will be the favourite. I do hope you are able to source this hymn and use it frequently during this quarters Sabbath School study time.
The title of our study this week shows firstly the battle as in
Hymn 614, Sound the Battle Cry and then the battle is won in
Hymn 647, Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory. The Victory then comes in
Hymn 608, Faith Is the Victory.
Daniel maintains his prayer life on Sunday, pleading with God on behalf of the people:
Hymn 488, At First I Prayed for Light,
Hymn 284, For You I Am Praying,
Hymn 649, Lord, While for All Mankind We Pray and
Hymn 658, Heavenly Father, Hear Our Prayer.
The person seen in the vision of Daniel 10:4-9 can be sung in
Hymn 418, Day of Judgment, Day of Wonders! – “a certain man” clothed in majesty divine.
The angel comes to comfort Daniel (Tuesday) as we see in
Hymn 257, Come Down, O Love Divine. This also happens in
Hymn 260, Hover O’er Me, Holy Spirit. Daniel can then speak and has strength.
Daniel saw what is in
Hymn 617, We Are Living, We Are Dwelling in a grand and awful time on Wednesday.
The Victorious Prince on Thursday is in
Hymn 165, Look, You Saints! The Sight Is Glorious and Hymn 215, The King Shall Come.
God’s blessings as you enjoy your “Singing with Inspiration” this quarter.
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
