1. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 65:17-25.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What kind of restoration since the fall do we see here?
- Personal Application: What is so promising to you about these verses in Isaiah 65? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “Why does Isaiah say a child shall live a hundred years, but the sinner living a hundred years shall be cursed? Is this speaking of the new heavens and earth, or imagery, or something like what would happen on earth if Israel ultimately had come to God?” How would you respond to your friend?
2. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 66:1-5, 15-18.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- Why does God commend those who tremble at His word? What does He mean by trembling at His word?
- Personal Application: How do people today not hear and answer when the Lord called and spoke? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “Does this say that people who are involved with idol worship will be killed at Christ’s coming? Why does it mention unclean foods as well? Doesn’t the Bible say we can eat anything we want as long as we pray over it?“ How would you respond to your relative?
3. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 66:19-21.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What does God mean when He says He will take some of them for priests and Levites?
- Personal Application: What has God asked us to do in presenting the truth to others as His royal priesthood and holy nation? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “What does it mean that survivors would bring people from the nations as an offering to the Lord? How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 66:22-24.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- Why are there new moons along with Sabbaths in the presentation of the new heavens and new earth?
- Personal Application: What do you imagine the new heaven and new earth to be like at the end of time? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
