Further Study: Sabbath: A Gift From Eden

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 14, 2013 by SSNET StaffJune 18, 2013avatar

“God created man in His own image. Here is no mystery. There is no ground for the supposition that man was evolved by slow degrees of development from the lower forms of animal or vegetable life. Such teaching lowers the great work of the Creator to the level of man’s narrow, earthly conceptions. Men are … Continue reading –>

Inside Story: Embracing the World’s Cities, 2

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 14, 2013 by SSNET StaffApril 11, 2015avatar

As we look at the mission field, we must look through the compassionate eyes of Jesus. We’re not looking at a target group or mere statistics; we’e looking at real people. They may have given up on church and religion, but they’e open to those who follow Christ and show the love and sympathy of … Continue reading –>

11: Sabbath: A Gift from Eden – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 13, 2013 by Joyce GriffithJuly 18, 2013Joyce Griffith

“For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.” Matthew 12:8 [Thought questions for Sabbath: A Gift From Eden March 13, 2013] 1. The creation of the Sabbath. What was the final work of Creation Week? Why did God take the time to set aside one 24-hour day after everything that He … Continue reading –>

Thursday: A Psalm for the Sabbath

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 13, 2013 by SSNET StaffMay 10, 2017avatar

Read Psalm 92. What does this tell us, at least in part, about what the experience of Sabbath keeping should be like? Why, when thinking about the Lord, should we express the kind of joy expressed in this psalm? The psalmist obviously knew the Lord, knew what the Lord was like, knew what the Lord had … Continue reading –>

The Sabbath In Light of The Cross

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 13, 2013 by William EarnhardtAugust 29, 2014avatar

“The sacrifice of Christ as an atonement for sin is the great truth around which all other truths cluster. In order to be rightly understood and appreciated, every truth in the Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, must be studied in the light that streams from the cross of Calvary. I present before you … Continue reading –>

The Evidence for Creation

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 13, 2013 by Leonard BrandApril 13, 2018avatar
Large Statue of a Man's Head

It has been more than 150 years since Darwin published his theory of evolution, and many bookshelves could be filled with books discussing evolutionary theory as it has subsequently developed and giving purported evidence to support it. But when the scientists who write these books analyze the evidence that might tell us something about the … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: Sabbath and the Last Days

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 12, 2013 by SSNET StaffMarch 15, 2013avatar
The End of Sin

Read 2 Peter 3:3-7. Compare the description of the last day scoffers with our contemporary society. What do the scoffers deny, and why? The scoffers claim that nature has continued on without interruption, a claim known among scientists as “uniformitarianism.” This is equivalent to denying that miracles occur. This claim is then used to deny that … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Jesus and the Sabbath

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 11, 2013 by SSNET StaffMay 1, 2018avatar
Jesus With Ten Commandments

Read Mark 2:27, 28. What crucial truth about the Sabbath does Jesus reveal here? How can we take this principle and apply it to our own Sabbath experience? Jesus and His disciples had just walked through a field of grain, and the disciples, hungry, had picked some of the grain and eaten it. The act of picking … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Rich Meaning of Sabbath Rest

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 10, 2013 by SSNET StaffMarch 15, 2013avatar
The Robe of Righteousness

Read Deuteronomy 5:12-15. How does the emphasis of the Sabbath commandment here differ from Exodus 20:8-11? Here Moses reminds the Israelites that they should keep the Sabbath, and he states that they should do this because God delivered them from Egypt. The texts say nothing about the six days of Creation or about the Sabbath being God’s … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
