Sabbath: God Loves Freely — 6 Comments

  1. God is love should be the first words we hear when we wake up in the morning. This is His trait and when we pray we'd be like Him, may we understand this.

  2. “Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?” I believe Peter would have answered that he loved Jesus before he denied Him. How was Peter’s love doing when he later dissembled with the Jews? (Galatians 2:11-14). The point is that our love for God is flawed but thankfully His love for us is not and His love, not mine, is the anchor of my hope. “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10. And then, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another”. 1 John 4:11

  3. Love is a thread that runs through the major religions of the world (Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and Christianity). The key difference is that Christian love is unconditional, sacrificial, and redemptive (John 3:16). This love is far beyond what human faculties can fathom. This love is self-denial. It is not part of human nature. It is foundational to God's nature. The Bible narrative indicates that it is the greatest of God’s nature. “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13). In fact, everything that God does is motivated by love (Lamentations 3: 22-23). The Bible is explicit in saying that justice flows from God’s love (Psalms 33: 5, Psalms 146:7-9). God’s love is expressed in the execution of justice (Isaiah 61:8).

It is comforting to know and understand that God’s love has no strings attached. He loves us freely. While we were still sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). How can the Creator die for what He created? He could have made a new creation but decided to die to redeem his creation. This is “strange” love! Dear God, please help us to have this “strange” love.

  4. For us sinful beings, actions speaks louder than words. Peter was always ready and willing to defend Jesus. When Peter asked Jesus where he was going and Jesus told him that he could not go, Peter questioned Jesus, why, as though Jesus wouldn’t know or didn’t know his heart and in his own self-confidence stated he would lay down his life for Jesus.
What a great disappointment to himself when he, Peter was faced with the reality to prove his loyalty and failed denying Jesus.
Not one, not two but three times.
Jesus came back to let Peter know that he was forgiven and there is work to do.
We are like that many times. We have faults, failures and Satan places doubt in our mines to question who we are and who God is. We serve a God of love, grace, compassion. Though we sin, we have the plan of salvation before us. Redemption of sins. We have power through the Holy Spirit to overcome. “Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling.”
We don’t have time to harbor and sulk over past sins. We have God’s forgiveness through His son to forgive us, and the power of the Holy Spirit to direct us in the RIGHT path! As Christ told the disciples to cast the net on the right side of the boat. We are to obey and do the will of God. People are hungry for the Word and need to be fed the Spiritual food their soul is in need of.
We say we love Him; we must live as Christ lived, relying on His Father’s strength and feed his sheep!

  5. This quarter we will explore how vast the love of God is. How magnificent is His love for us, mankind. How delightful a loving relationship with Him can be. How love is a two way street. How we get out of it what we put into it, with God and us. A relationship with God is God's burning desire for us. We will see how the love of God changes the soul. We may even hear of how Enoch preached the Love of God to the antediluvians. Patriarchs and Prophets Chapter 6 pages 84.3-88.3.

"Oh Lord my God when I in awesome wounder, Consider all the world's Thy hands have made... Then sings my soul my Saviour God to Thee, how great Thou Art, how great Thou Art..." Yes, this is awesome love that God has for all.

  6. Gods love for us is unconditional,He loves us willing and doesn't expect us to pay him back or do him any favours because he loves us.this is very strange, normally people love those who love them but our God does not wait for us to love him so that He may love us back , he infact gives us the freedom to choose to, and in all this He still promises of his love
