1. Have a volunteer read Ephesians 4:25 – 5:2.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- Why is unity in doctrine alone not good enough to show unity to the world?
- Personal Application: How are we to be witness to Jesus in our public lives? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “What do others see in your life that would make them want to follow Jesus? Are there things they see that we make them not want to follow your example in following Jesus? ” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Romans 14:1-6.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What issues of conscience were causing members to judge and not fellowship with one another?
- Personal Application: Is there anything that we believe and practice as SDA’s that all who claim membership need not believe or adhere to? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “Isn’t this talking about Sabbath-keeping and unclean foods? Why do we judge people on what day they worship or what they eat? Isn’t your church concerned about things that aren’t important?” How would you reply to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read 2 Corinthians 5:17-21.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What does this passage indicate is true reconciliation with God?
- Personal Application: How can we be ministers of reconciliation to the world in our faith in Christ? Share your thoughts
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “How are church members ambassadors for Christ being reconciled and reconciling others to Christ? What are your duties as an ambassador?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read John 11:51,52.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What event in Jesus’ life is the foundation of unity among Seventh-day Adventists?
- Personal Application: Do our cultural, social, ethnic, and political differences cause problems with unity in Christ? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
