Are We Still Missing the Message of the Cross? — 2 Comments

  1. That was a great video. I passed it on because I was impressed by how it explained everything. Thank you for sharing this.

  2. Hello Inge! Good short introduction to a resource that I haven’t known about. For some reason I get the message, “Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot” when I click on it. Then there is no sign in landing page. I had to manually look for it on YouTube.

Indeed the cross was one of those things that people didn’t want to talk about because it was so horrific and reserved for the basest of criminals. It was the most inhumane form of capital punishment designed to shock and terrify people into compliance and submission to the ruling authorities. Though the Romans didn’t create it they certainly perfected it. It was anathema. Far worse than my parents threatening to send me as a child, to Military Academy, if I didn’t shape up. Though in my young mind that was a close second to the cross.

Perhaps the Wisdom of God chose that manner as an extreme display of his extreme love for mankind. To shock our sensibilities and wake us from our tendancies to spiritual lukewarmness. A definite display of God’s “crazy love” of His Creation which arrests our attention. It screams that humanity is not disposable, that God himself would rather die than live without us. Could it be that questions tell us more than answers ever will? It reveals the length that the Good Shepherd would go to in order to rescue his wayward sheep.

Were we there when they crucified our Lord? Indeed we were. We drove the nails with our sins and transgressions. May we learn to really live by dying to our selfish desires.

Thank you for sharing the link. It was a very interesting and thought provoking discussion with excellent artwork as images. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
