3: Preparing for Change – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 14, 2019 by Joyce GriffithApril 14, 2019Joyce Griffith

Change. Maybe you heard about the family living in an area with a very low population and no hospital within several hours. Are they moving? Wanting to move? No way. What about you and me? Do we face difficulties at one extreme and opportunities for wealth at the other but, either way, we don’t want … Continue reading –>

Monday: Preparing for Marriage

Preparing for Marriage

One of the greatest changes a person faces is when he or she gets married. Of course, not everyone gets married. After all, Jesus, our greatest example, never did, nor did many other Bible characters. Nevertheless, many people do marry, and thus, the Bible is not silent about marriage, which is surely one of the … Continue reading –>

3: Preparing for Change – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 13, 2019 by Corinne KnopperApril 13, 2019avatar

We need a Guide throughout our changes and find this in  Hymn 5, “All My Hope on God Is Founded”. Verse four of  Hymn 61, “God Is Here!” shares this. But, we are reminded that God is unchanged in  Hymn 274, “O Word of God Incarnate”. Trusting in God will help us with all the changes:  … Continue reading –>

3: Preparing For Change – Teaching Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 13, 2019 by Michael FrackerApril 13, 2019Michael Fracker

Key Thought: Some changes come suddenly. But the ones we know are coming; it is wise to prepare for: marriage, children, old age, and death. April 20, 2019 1. Have a volunteer read I Corinthians 10:11-13. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is. What warnings … Continue reading –>

Sunday: Unprepared

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 13, 2019 by Sabbath School LessonApril 11, 2019avatar

There is one thing about the Word of God: it does not gloss over the realities of human life. On the contrary, it exposes them in all their harshness and, at times, sheer pain and despair. In fact, with the exception of the first few pages of the Bible and the last few at the … Continue reading –>

Read for This Week’s Study: 1 Cor. 10:1-13, Gen. 2:24, 1 Cor. 13:4-8, 1 Sam. 1:27, Psalms 71:1-24, 1 Cor. 15:24-26. Memory Text: “Righteousness will go before Him, and shall make His footsteps our pathway” (Psalm 85:13, NKJV). Life is full of changes. Things change all the time. The only thing that does not change is the reality of change itself. Change, … Continue reading –>

The Choices We Make – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 11, 2019 by Curtis HallApril 11, 2019avatar
Portrait of man with 2 signs above head saying "Evil and Good"

He was a young man condemned to death. A life full of promise had been squandered away for a life of crime. Now, hanging on a cross as a convicted thief, he must pay the ultimate price for his sins. But how did he get there? Many bad decisions had led him to this place … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought – The Choices We Make

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 11, 2019 by Sabbath School LessonApril 6, 2019avatar
Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: All through Scripture, we are confronted with the reality of human free will. Even the unfallen Adam and Eve (Genesis chapter 3) had free will, and they unfortunately made the wrong choice with it. If unfallen beings, in perfection, could misuse free will, how much more so beings like ourselves, steeped in sin? And we need … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Choosing a Course

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 10, 2019 by Sabbath School LessonApril 6, 2019avatar
Pathway

At some point, we have to make the choice about what we want to do with our lives in terms of a job or career. Unless independently wealthy or working full-time at home taking care of the house and family (the most noble of all occupations), many people have to choose a path as far … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: Choosing a Life Partner

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 9, 2019 by Sabbath School LessonApril 6, 2019avatar
Life Partner

If you’re supposed to choose your friends carefully, you must be even more careful when it comes to choosing your future spouse. Adam was very blessed that God designed his life companion with His own hands and from within himself. Adam’s choice was easy since Eve was not just the only woman, but the perfect … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
