Jesus Visits Tyre and Sidon

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 12th of December 2023 Bible scholars believe that the Gospel of Matthew had been written specifically for a Jewish audience, and that Mark was written with primarily a Gentile audience in mind. It is helpful to keep this distinction before us as we study the Gospels. Read Matthew 15:1-39:22-28 and Mark … Continue reading –>

Jesus Gives The Beatitudes Sermon

Daily Lesson for Monday 11th of December 2023 Despite challenges, external and internal, Jesus graciously extends the call to us for His mission to the cities. Read Matthew 9:35-38. What does this teach us about mission to the multitudes, wherever we find them?   Jesus was moved with compassion for the multitudes, such as are … Continue reading –>

11: Mission to the Unreached – 2 – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 10, 2023 by Corinne KnopperDecember 10, 2023avatar

“God’s Mission – My Mission” consistently points us to our Gracious God and how He wishes us to portray what He has done for us. In response we will reach out to others: Hymn 573 – I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go, Dear Lord, hence our theme hymn. This is in response to So Send … Continue reading –>

Woman With Bible and Suitcase on Journey With Map

Daily Lesson for Sunday 10th of December 2023 We read that Jesus took His disciples from Gennesaret (Matthew 14:34) “and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon” (Matthew 15:21, NKJV). Why did He take them from Galilee to these pagan places? He leads His disciples on this field trip into the borders of these … Continue reading –>

Spectacles on Bible

Daily Lesson for Friday 8th of December 2023 One of the primary takeaways from the story of Paul’s experience at the Areopagus is its on-the-ground study of how to approach an unreached group of unbelievers, which resulted in a small group of believers starting in Athens. “The words of the apostle, and the description of … Continue reading –>

Being Creative in Reaching the Unreached

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 6, 2023 by William EarnhardtDecember 13, 2023avatar

Mary, an elderly lady in the Tampa First Seventh-day Adventist Church, where I served as a Bible Worker years ago, told me how she became a Seventh-day Adventist in the early ’30s in British Honduras, now Belize. She was school age, when her little brother noticed a huge tent going up in town. He told … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Crossing a Line

So Great a Crowd of Witnesses

Daily Lesson for Thursday 7th of December 2023 Read Acts 17:24-34. How does Paul continue his witness?   It’s also interesting to note that Paul actually quoted some of their own writers, who, having written something fairly close to biblical truth, gave Paul an opening to take his hearers further along. That is, he used … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
