Spectacles on Bible

Daily Lesson for Friday 29th of May 2026 Further Thought: It shouldn’t surprise us that the topic of the law can be such a twisted and misunderstood one, given that Satan’s ultimate challenge against God was about His law.   Some in Jesus’ day thought that He had come to do away with the law, … Continue reading –>

Sermon on the Mount

Daily Lesson for Thursday 28th of May 2026 In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus talks a lot about relationships—with Him and with one another. He says something very poignant toward the end of His message: “ ‘Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does … Continue reading –>

Sacrifice and the Law - His Love for All Mankind

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 27th of May 2026 Jesus Himself explained very powerfully and succinctly what His relationship to the law was. In Matthew 5:17-18, what did Jesus say about the law? In a similar way to how parents’ boundaries for their child reveal what they value, God’s law tells us about His character and … Continue reading –>

Law Convicts of Sin

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 26th of May 2026 How would you define and describe sin to a non-Christian? How does the Bible describe sin? Read Romans 3:20 and 1 John 3:4. Sin is a transgression of God’s law (1 John 3:4), and sin also is wrapped up in our natures (Psalms 51:5, Jeremiah 17:9). So, … Continue reading –>

Man Pulling Large Weight

Daily Lesson for Monday 25th of May 2026 There are many messages in the Bible that speak about our relationship with God and the barriers that prevent us from growing in Christ. Consider these words from Paul and Jesus: “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12, NKJV). … Continue reading –>

Samson Destroying the Building and His Life

Daily Lesson for Sunday 24th of May 2026 Read about Samson’s temptations in Judges 14:1-20 and Judges 16:1,4,16-17. Although called by God for a specific purpose, Samson served God while giving in to temptation. What does the outcome of his life teach us? The great controversy is real, and we are all involved in it. … Continue reading –>

Spectacles on Bible

Daily Lesson for Friday 22nd of May 2026 Further Thought: We are justified (pardoned and set right with God) by faith (Romans 5:1). We are then also sanctified (given power to be like Jesus) by faith (Acts 26:18). When we invite Jesus into our lives, we also become God’s children by faith (John 1:12). We … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
