Thursday: To Reconcile All Things

Sign Saying "For God So Loved The World"

Daily Lesson for Thursday 19th of February 2026 Read Colossians 1:19-20. What is this reconciliation that comes through the Cross, and how comprehensive is it? Paul uses a very interesting expression in Greek to culminate his description of Jesus, obliquely pointing back to the Father, who was mentioned in Colossians 1:12. It is His fullness … Continue reading –>

Page of Scripture

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 18th of February 2026 Read Colossians 1:18. What is the connection between the idea of Christ as the head and Him as the “beginning”? In Hebrew the words for head (roʾš) and beginning (rēʾšît) are related. The first instance of the latter word in Scripture is in Genesis 1:1: “In the … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Head of the Body (the Church)

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 16, 2026 by Sabbath School LessonJanuary 20, 2026avatar
Things We Do in Our Church Life

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 17th of February 2026 Read Ephesians 1:22 and Colossians 2:10. What does “head” mean in these passages? What does Paul mean when he calls Jesus the “head of the church” (Ephesians 5:23)? It is natural to speak of the head in a metaphorical sense in reference to a leadership position, as … Continue reading –>

Monday: Firstborn Over All Creation

Christ Overseeing the World

Daily Lesson for Monday 16th of February 2026 In the New Testament, the terms “firstborn” and “first begotten” almost always refer to Jesus (see Luke 2:7, Romans 8:29, Hebrews 1:6, Revelation 1:5), including both occurrences in Colossians. But even when it refers to others, it does not necessarily mean the one born chronologically first. The … Continue reading –>

8: The Preeminence of Christ — Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 15, 2026 by Corinne KnopperFebruary 15, 2026avatar

The great lesson we learn from dear Paul this quarter is that we are to  Stand Up! Stand Up For Jesus! – Hymn 618. This is a beautiful theme hymn to give us a great reminder of what we need in our world that is falling apart these days. From the beginning of this week’s … Continue reading –>

The Intimate and Sacred Privilege of Suffering With Christ

A Father's Love

Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. Colossians 1:18 NLT Several Years ago, a friend of mine and I went to the Bodies exhibit at the MOSI Museum in Tampa, where we saw real bodies on display. One of the exhibits featured a nerve that ran from the small toe … Continue reading –>

Sunday: Image of the Invisible God

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 14, 2026 by Sabbath School LessonJanuary 20, 2026avatar
God the Father With the Son

Daily Lesson for Sunday 15th of February 2026 When we look in the mirror or at a photograph, we see an image of ourselves, but it is a flat, two-dimensional portrayal. In some respects, a sculpture gives a clearer idea yet still falls far short of the living, breathing, animated reality. The biblical concept of … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
