Lesson 10 America and Babylon – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 4, 2018 by Joyce GriffithJune 4, 2018Joyce Griffith

Deadly wound healed. Imagine you are watching the Emperor of Rome waiting three months in the cold winter weather for an audience with Pope Gregory VII. Would you agree it was a “deadly wound” to the papacy when the papal power was shattered by this and succeeding actions? What would be your reaction if you … Continue reading –>

Lesson 10: America and Babylon – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 4, 2018 by Corinne KnopperJune 4, 2018avatar

The biggest question from this week’s study is about ‘Who do I worship?” To help us worship correctly: Hymn 272, “Give Me the Bible”. As “God has faithful people in all churches” (Sunday), everyone can sing heartily:  Hymn 602, “O Brother, Be Faithful”. We will then realize that our God is:  “A Mighty Fortress” – … Continue reading –>

Lesson 9: End-Time Deceptions – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 28, 2018 by Joyce GriffithMay 28, 2018Joyce Griffith

Is Satan more ready than ever? Wouldn’t you think that with more than six thousand years to fuss over and ponder about his great loss of power, Satan would just give up and stop pestering God’s followers? Why doesn’t he? What does he do instead? Long ago, while he was still in heaven but storming inside about … Continue reading –>

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 28, 2018 by Corinne KnopperMay 28, 2018avatar

Lesson 8: Worship the Creator – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 21, 2018 by Joyce GriffithMay 25, 2018Joyce Griffith

Present truth. Those of us who read church history remember that James White published a series of little tracts called “Present Truth” in the late 1840s. This publication no longer exists, but we still use the concept of “present truth” to describe-our end-time mission. What is the connection between Revelation 14:6-12 (three angels messages) and … Continue reading –>

Lesson 8: Worship the Creator – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 21, 2018 by Corinne KnopperMay 21, 2018avatar

Our memory text opens our singing with: Hymn 378, “Go, Preach My Gospel”, and  Hymn 202, “Hail Him the King of Glory”.  These two hymns continue in Sunday’s study. Galations 3:22 goes on to encourage us: Hymn 511, “I Know Whom I Have Believed”. Finalising in  Hymn 214, “We Have This Hope”. We are shown clearly in Monday’s lesson … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
