Sabbath School Net Posted on November 29, 2011 by Joyce GriffithSeptember 9, 2014Joyce Griffith

Madeline and Melvin were in love. No question about it. At every opportunity they would steal glances at each other and talk with nudges and grins. Everybody knew.1 They would soon be married. Then Melvin dropped a bombshell. Both Madeline and Melvin had been married before, and Melvin wasn’t ready to risk a repeat performance of … Continue reading –>

08: Be an Heir Rather Than a Servant – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 16, 2011 by Joyce GriffithSeptember 9, 2014Joyce Griffith

“I wish we would win the lottery,” Marcia announced at the dinner table. “That’s impossible,” her father said. “We don’t play the lottery.” 1 “Why not?” “Because it’s a foolish gamble. You have one in eighteen million chances of winning. And that’s in a lottery for a single state. Some lotteries are for several states, … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
