Key Thought : We are the heirs of God’s riches. We have the privilege of enjoying God’s creation and serving as His stewards in preserving the environment.
Crisis in Eden January 2 – Jan 8, 2016
1. Have a volunteer read Genesis 2:15-17.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. What do these words seem to indicate about man’s responsibility in taking care of the environment?
c. Personal Application : What things should you stay away from because they are a temptation to you? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your relatives states: “Why didn’t they just stay away from the tree like God told them to? Then there wouldn’t have been any trouble.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Genesis 3:1-5.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. What did Satan do to attempt to deceive Eve?
c. Personal Application : What are some things people believe that are a mixture of truth and error? Why is that so dangerous? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “Why is there so much death in the world? Is it because of our disregarding God’s rules and nature’s rules that causes so many untimely deaths?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
3. Have a volunteer read Genesis 3:10-15.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. Why did Eve and Adam blame others for their sin?
c. Personal Application: Have you ever done the wrong thing for what you considered the right reasons? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “How can we humans take responsibility for the creation and environment as stewards? What practical things can we do?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Genesis 3:4-7.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. How well does the world still reflect God’s creation, and how much has been perverted by Satan’s influence?
c. Personal Application: Why do so many people act as if God is their enemy? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
