  1. Can we also say the same to the view of Canaan as a land flowing with milk and honey? a drastic exaggeration?

    • Like Maurice said, it is a figure of speech. We know how expensive honey can be, and milk was not as ubiquitous then as now, with factory farms and dairies. So both items were precious. What the figure of speech said to the Israelites was that Canaan would be a land of abundance. And the report of the 12 spies verified that. Imagine a cluster of grapes large enough that it required two men to carry!!

      (I can't imagine anyone attracted to a land literally flowing with milk and honey!!)
