Job’s Redeemer – Teaching Plan
Key Thought: Long before Jesus came to live and die for us, Job knew his Redeemer lived..
1. Have a volunteer read Job 19:25-29.
a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
b. What does Job indicate here that shows we are not resurrected as spirits or ghosts?
c. Personal Application : Why is it only the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ that makes it possible for us to be saved? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your relatives states: “How did Job know about a Redeemer long before Jesus came? Was it through Scripture, Divine Revelation, or some other way?” How would you respond to your relatives?
2. Have a volunteer read Job 10:4,5.
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
b. What was Job’s complaint, and did he have a point?
c. Personal Application : What does it mean that Jesus took humanity and whether He can relate to any of your struggles now? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your friends states, “Why is it that a person has to accept Jesus’ substitutionary death on the cross to be saved? Are you saying Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus can’t be saved unless they become Christian?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 53:1-6
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. Is it possible for God to suffer? Did Jesus really encounter real suffering at the cross?
c. Personal Application: Are there any moments in your life where Jesus as your Redeemer became most precious to you? Share your thoughts.
d. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “What does it mean that the Messiah had no beauty or comliness? Was this speaking of Jesus being plain or ugly in personage, or is it describing Him after being beaten and pierced on the cross?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Job 12:30-32
a. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
b. What was Jesus saying about Satan in the context of the cross and the great controversy?
c. Personal Application :Many never read a Bible or have heard of Him. Many reject the Bbile as a fairy tale. How does Jesus draw all people to Him?
d. Case Study : Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
