Love is the one Debt That Will Never go Away — 2 Comments

  1. Thank you, William, for touching on this delicate subject which we should not ignore. It‘s not enough to focus only on material lending and borrowing, but indeed on „love debt“.

What you described about the 14 year old girl reminds me of my experience as I was a freelancer in different towns depending on where the business contracts were. I would then attend a Seventh-day Adventist church on Sabbath. I watched the members performing their tasks, singing and praising God and so on. No one cared to welcome me or even ask where I came from. I was just a stranger who, as it seemed to me, was attending anonymously a concert in a hall, and leaving after the show was over. Was church worship only a show? Were members only concerned about carrying out their Sabbath routine?

I hope we would lend others more loving kindness within the walls of our church, for some may not feel encouraged to come back. And what have we learned from Christ‘s life on earth if we only focus on just keeping our program going?

    • Thank you so much for the post, Pastor William. The really sad thing about the experience you shared is that unfortunately it is so commonplace, that it’s become a normalised practice to ‘fellowship’ and be absorbed with friends and then ignore visitors. Far too often, hungry searching visitors leave church starving for acceptance and love, even though the truth may be presented there. Oh God, please mould us into your lovely and lovable image.
