Key Thought: The early church was threatened by internal conflicts, but the church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit was able to resolve these conflicts.

1. Have a volunteer read Acts 6:1-6.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What were the steps taken by the early church to solve this problem?
- Personal Application: How important is it for other leaders besides elders to take upon themselves to solve difficulties and serve others rather than overburden the elders and pastors?. Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “What was the reason that they called many believers together to try and work out a solution to this problem? ” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Acts 11:16-18.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What was Peter’s main point by recounting what had happened?
- Personal Application: How can we prevent our own biases from getting in the way of the Holy Spirit’s leading? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “Does a person’s culture get in the way of recognizing God’s leading or of how it might impact our interpretation of Scripture?.” How would you reply to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Acts 15:1,2: Galatians 2:11-14..

- What are the two issues that caused conflict in the early church?
- Personal Application: Did you ever hold a strong belief that you changed your mind about? Share your thoughts
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “Why did Paul rebuke Peter for hanging out with the Jewish Christians? Isn’t it normal for people to hang out with the people of their own experience and culture?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read Amos 9:11,12.

- What did Amos predict about the future concerning Edom and the heathen?
- Personal Application: What do you think is the hardest group of people to reach with the gospel? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
