Sabbath School Net Posted on August 9, 2020 by Joyce GriffithAugust 9, 2020Joyce Griffith

Symbols of God’s Word. The Bible is loaded with symbols, some of them enticing and good, others puzzling and even confusing. What symbols do we find pointing to the Word of God as we study to draw men and women to Jesus? Jeremiah uses the fire and hammer as symbols of God’s Word.  How do these … Continue reading –>

J. Carlos Sanchez Ruiz

He’s Simply Carlos’ If J. Carlos Sanchez Ruiz were president of a Seventh-day Adventist union office in his native Peru, church members would courteously address him as “Pastor-President”. But in Uruguay, where Sanchez Ruiz is president of the Uruguay Union of Churches Mission, he is known simply as “Carlos”. Men call him “Carlos”. Women call … Continue reading –>

Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: Read Ellen G. White, “Talents”, pages 325-365, in Christ’s Object Lessons. The correct understanding of the biblical teaching of spiritual gifts brings unity to the church. The recognition that each one of us is valuable and a needed member of the body of Christ is a unifying thought. Every member of the church is necessary … Continue reading –>

Equal Gifts But Not the Same Gifts

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 5, 2020 by William EarnhardtAugust 13, 2020avatar

We were in our last couple nights of evangelism meetings when a water pipe burst, flooding a room behind the sanctuary, near the baptistry entrance. One of the deacons told a local elder to help the other deacons pump the water out. The elder politely replied that he could not do that, because he had … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
