Tuesday: Revelation 13 — 1 Comment

  1. In Revelation 13 there are two kinds of worship. The worship of Jesus is free and He is pleading with us to worship Him because to worship the beast or its image only ends up in disaster. The worship of the beast or the image, on the other hand, is a forced worship where everyone is threatened that if do not they will suffer under persecution to the point of death.
What a lot of Adventists do not understand is that in the last days the beast is not the one who will be causing the problems. He along with the beast with lamb like horns will be supporting it but not directly doing the persecuting. Often people will look at Rev 13:7 and conclude that the beast is in the fray but the period of his persecuting efforts is constrained to a “time and times and half a time” (Dan 7:25 NKJV) which is the same as “one thousand two hundred and sixty days” (Rev 11:3; Rev 12:6 NKJV) where the church flees into the wilderness and the scriptures prophesy in sack cloth.
The beast with the lamb like horns is the one that, “was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed” (Rev 13:15 NKJV). So, while the beast powers set up and support the image it is the image itself that does the dirty work.
