The Unlikely Missionary – Hit the Mark — 10 Comments

  1. Great article. Yes indeed there is no other God in all of the earth than that is found in this example of God's character exemplified by His humble servants. Forgiving. Jeremiah 31:34. Longsuffering. Isaiah 41:8-10. Our God is faithful. 2 Kings 5:14. "So he went down to the river Jordan and dipped seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored, and became clean like that of a young boy." Blessed be the man/woman who has not had a thorn of the flesh away, yet he/she still recognizes Him as their God, the only God, greater than any god in all the earth, and takes hold of His garment. Zechariah 8:23.

  2. Just as we hit the mark this week: What situation holds us back? In what ways though little as we may perceive them can we amplify the authority of our God (Just like the maidservant)?

    • Samwel, sometimes its our fears that hold us back from so much and many times its or pride. Either way we have to grow past these limitations in order to be all that God expects us to be. Thanks!

  3. We should always examine our crowd , what kind of people do we have around us , are they people we can derive strength from in our journey to eternity. Nama an had a good entourage that encouraged him to reach his goal.

  4. Amen, m'brotha, and it was so good seeing and affirming recently at GC/San Antonio.

For my SS class this morning, I'll begin and end with two points:
    1. To "contemporize" Naaman - military hero, having the ear of the ruler, wealthy and a man of color (Syrian) - I'll ask them to see him as General Colin Powell; and
    2. Based upon Naaman's final declaration, I'll then ask in conclusion: shouldn't this lesson title be renamed "The Unlikely Missionaries (plural)"?

Thanks, again, Curtis for your depth and insights,

    • Tim, I love the Colin Powell example. That really helps bring it up to date. Great two points you brought out to your class.
It's always a pleasure seeing you and glad to see you at GC. Aim High 🙂
