Tuesday: The More Sure Word of Prophecy

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 7, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 8, 2016avatar
Two Men Climbing a Ladder on God's Hand

Read 2 Peter 1:16-21. What is he saying about prophecy that’s so important? Peter had seen many things in his time, and he lists some in this passage: Jesus transfigured on the mount (2 Pet. 1:18) and the confirmation of the prophecies concerning Jesus (2 Pet. 1:19). Each of these had impacted Peter deeply; yet, … Continue reading –>

11 Peter on the Great Controversy – Discussion Questions

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 7, 2016 by Joyce GriffithMarch 11, 2016Joyce Griffith

Peter the scoffer repents and changes. Remember Peter at the crucifixion of Jesus? “Oh, no,” he cries out. “Not me. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Jesus is nothing to me!” Those weren’t his exact words, but do they reflect his thoughts at the time of his betrayal? Didn’t Jesus had every right to throw … Continue reading –>

Monday: Peer Pressure

Group of Young Adults Teasing Young Woman

Read 1 Peter 4:1-7. Why are our lifestyle choices important, and how do they affect our readiness for Christ’s return? Peter comments that believers have already spent enough of their lives doing what others around them pressured them to do (1 Pet. 4:3). But now things have changed, and believers may be thought “strange” for … Continue reading –>

Sunday: Darkness to Light

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 5, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 12, 2016avatar
Rescued From Darkness

Read 1 Peter 2:9-10. How is the great controversy seen in these two verses? These verses come from Exodus 19:6, “‘a kingdom of priests and a holy nation’” (NKJV); and Deuteronomy 7:6, (repeated in Deut. 14:2) “a holy people,” “chosen . . . to be a people for Himself,” and “a special treasure” (NKJV). These … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought – Paul and the Rebellion

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 3, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 6, 2016avatar
People in Sorrow, People Rejoicing

“Not only man but the earth also had by sin come under the control of the wicked one, and was to be restored by the plan of redemption. At his creation, Adam was placed in dominion over the earth. But by yielding to temptation, he was brought under the power of Satan, and the dominion … Continue reading –>

How Adventism Ended the Gospel Wars

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 3, 2016 by Mike ManeaJanuary 1, 2025avatar

You might think that, although Christians disagree on a lot of topics, they at least agree on the central theme of their religion: the gospel. But no such luck. You have Calvinism on the one side, Arminianism on the other, and an entire spectrum of options in between. And that’s just within Protestantism. The Catholic and … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
