Mentoring Youth on Common Ground

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 8, 2015 by William EarnhardtMay 12, 2015avatar

Occasionally, the school where I teach a weekly Bible class will ask me to sub for the entire day. One day when I was assigned to teach for the entire day, a delightful but rambunctious boy, who had typical behavioral issues in the past, came up to me and promised he was not going to … Continue reading –>

The Bible Speaks to All People

More Precious Than Money Ruth was born in Ecuador, but moved to Japan with her Japanese- Ecuadorian husband in 2004. While still in Ecuador she visited many churches, but none satisfied the deep spiritual longing of her heart. Then one day she visited a Seventh-day Adventist church and found that the people were kind and … Continue reading –>

Two Woman in Prayer

He who remembered His mother when He was hanging in agony upon the cross; who appeared to the weeping women and made them His messengers to spread the first glad tidings of a risen Saviour-He is woman’s best friend today and is ready to aid her in all the relations of life.-Ellen G. White, The … Continue reading –>

Widow's Mite

Luke shows how Jesus turned to two widows in order to teach important spiritual truths. In the first case (Luke 18:1-8), Jesus pitied a poor and powerless widow who was up against a wicked and powerful judge in her fight for justice. She was a victim of injustice and fraud, and yet, she believed in … Continue reading –>

Christ’s Radical Treatment of Women

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 5, 2015 by Inge AndersonNovember 10, 2016avatar

It’s hard for us to imagine ourselves in a world where devout men pray every morning on arising, “God I thank You that you did not create me a Gentile, a slave or a woman.” 1 It was in such a society that Jesus ministered. The prominent role played by women in society, as related … Continue reading –>

Women in the Ministry of Jesus – Hit the Mark

A woman with hands folded looks upwards as in prayer

Jesus is the champion of women – and women need a champion! I’ve often imagined how she must have felt that day. I’ve had my share of embarrassing moments; times when I wish I could have disappeared. Humiliation on occasion happens to all. But this was different. The story of this women, although not found … Continue reading –>

[Thought questions for Women in the Ministry of Jesus May 5, 1015] 1. Neither male nor female. In your personal meditations, do you ever reflect on the awesome power of God? How does Christ’s treatment of women reflect that power? Can you imagine hearing a Christian in his evening prayer say, with deep feeling, “Oh, … Continue reading –>

Description: Jesus in Home of Mary and Martha

Read Luke 10:38-42. What important spiritual truths can we take from this story (see also Luke 8:14) for ourselves? As the hostess, Martha was distracted with much serving (Luke 10:40, NKJV) and was busy in getting the best for the guests. But Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word (Luke 10:39, NKJV). So … Continue reading –>

Mary washing Jesus' feet

In Luke 7:36-50, Jesus turned a meal into an event of spiritual magnitude that offered dignity to a sinful woman. Simon, a leading citizen, a Pharisee, invited Jesus for a meal. Invitees seated, there was a sudden disruption: a woman in the city who was a sinner(Luke 7:37, NKJV) rushed straight to Jesus, broke an … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
