Stairs Leading to God's Hand

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 19th of February 2025 Read Ephesians 1:9-11. What is this text saying about predestination? Are some people predestined to be saved and others to be lost? The Greek term translated “predestination” here and elsewhere in Scripture (prohorizo) does not itself teach that God causally determines history. Rather, the Greek term simply … Continue reading –>

Convicted of Sin

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 18th of February 2025 That God is all-powerful does not mean that He can do the logically impossible. Accordingly, God cannot causally determine that someone freely love Him. If freely doing something means to do something without being determined to do it, then by definition it is impossible to make someone … Continue reading –>

Christ at the Helm, by Harry Anderson

Daily Lesson for Monday 17th of February 2025 Throughout Scripture, God’s amazing power is made manifest. The Bible includes countless narratives of His exercising His power and working miracles. And yet, despite this, many things happen that God does not want to happen. Read Revelation 11:17, Jeremiah 32:17-20, Luke 1:37, and Matthew 19:26. Consider also … Continue reading –>

Man in Boat Being Rescued

Daily Lesson for Sunday 16th of February 2025 “God is sovereign,” the youth pastor taught his middle school group. “That means He controls everything that happens.” One puzzled middle schooler replied, “So God was in control when my dog died? Why would God kill my dog?” Trying to answer this question, the youth pastor replied: … Continue reading –>

Woman Smiling into Camera

Inside Story for Friday 14th of February 2025 By Andrew McChesney Grace Babcock woke up suddenly in the middle of the night to the sound of an angry voice. “You don’t know,” the voice said. “You don’t understand.” Grace wasn’t scared. Spectacles on Bible

Daily Lesson for Friday 14th of February 2025 Read Ellen G. White, “Why Was Sin Permitted?” Pages 33–43, in Patriarchs and Prophets.  “Even when he was cast out of heaven, Infinite Wisdom did not destroy Satan. Since only the service of love can be acceptable to God, the allegiance of His creatures must rest upon … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Love and Evil?

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 12, 2025 by Sabbath School LessonFebruary 5, 2025avatar
Creation in God's Hands

Daily Lesson for Thursday 13th of February 2025 God has granted creatures free will because it is necessary for love; misuse of this free will is the cause of evil. Again, many questions remain. God allows evil (for a time), while passionately despising it, because to exclude its possibility would exclude love, and to destroy … Continue reading –>

Eve Showing Adam a Piece of Fruit

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 12th of February 2025 However much we don’t understand of God’s ways and thoughts, Scripture does reveal some things that help to address the problem of evil. One avenue for addressing the logical problem of evil is known as the freewill defense. The freewill defense is the view that evil is … Continue reading –>

Man Talking with God

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 11th of February 2025 God proclaims in Isaiah 55:8-9, “ ‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts’ ” (NKJV). … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
