04: Prayer Power: Interceding For Others – Teaching Plan
Key Thought: When we seek God and intercede for others, God’s works in our own hearts to draw us closer to Him and gives us divine wisdom to reach them for His kingdom.

1. Have a volunteer read Luke 22:31-34.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- Why do you think God works more powerfully when we pray than when we neglect prayer?
- Personal Application: Who are you praying for now? Why is it so important never to give up? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “Does God give us assurances as as and when we face temptations, or does He expect us to deal with them through our faith?” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Ephesians 1:15-21.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What did Paul specifically ask God to give the Ephesians?
- Personal Application: How specific are you in your prayers? Do you pray explicitly enough to be able to recognize whether your prayers are answered or not? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “My son had a serious head injury in a car accident when he was sixteen. I prayed for God to restore him to me with his mind and body intact. If he wasn’t going to be right mentally, then take him. I wondered if I prayed the right way. My son was healed from a near-death experience and is normal..” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Daniel 10:10-14.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- When were Daniel’s prayers answered and what temporarity hindered them?
- Personal Application: How has the reality of the great controversy played out in your life? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “What are some hindrances to a more effective life of intercessory prayer? Do you ever use excuses to get out of praying more for others that need it?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read I Samuel 12:22-24.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What does this tell us about intercessory prayer?
- Personal Application: What happens when we pray for others? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them
