09: Developing a Winning Attitude – Teaching Plan
Key Thought: Our attitude toward others often determines their response toward us. Jesus presented the truth, but always in love. His message was one of acceptance, forgiveness, grace, and hope.

1. Have a volunteer read John 4:27-30, 39-42.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- How does Jesus’ interaction with the Samaritan woman show that all sorts of people are open to the gospel?
- Personal Application: Have you ever had an experience where you presented truth to someone, but maybe not in the best way? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “We have got to tell the truth to others about Babylon and the mark of the beast and the apostate church. If they listen, then good. If they don’t, then wipe the dust off your feet.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Matthew 15:21-28.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What indications here show that Jesus was reaching out with His saving grace and building trust?
- Personal Application: What are the essentials of a positive winning attitude? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “What do you do if a homeless man camps in your parking lot for three nights. What are some appropriate and not appropriate ways to relate to him?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What specific things did Paul compliment the Thessalonians for?
- Personal Application: How can we not fall into the trap of pointing out the faults of others or criticizing them? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “My brother just died. I’m so glad he is in heaven looking down on me. It is a real comfort to me since he died.” How would you respond to your neighbor? What would you say or not say?
4. Have a volunteer read I Peter 3:15, 2 Timothy 4:2..

- What balance is presented here concerning Bible truth and having a humble, accepting spirit?
- Personal Application: How would you respond to the question, “Why are you a Christian?”? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
