1. Have a volunteer read Ephesians 2:1-10.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- How important are good works to our Christian faith?
- Personal Application: What were you like before you knew Christ? After you knew Christ? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “The good works God wants us to walk in is love, not the commandments. We are to love God and love our fellow men. When we do that, we are doing what God wants us to do.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Matthew 8:28-34..
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What happened to these men, and what did townspeople find when they came out to see what happened?
- Personal Application: What are the elements of a compelling testimony? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “Why did the townspeople want Jesus to leave after performing the exorcism? It seems like they would have wanted Him to stay and heal the people in town rather than chase Him away.” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read I John 5:11-13.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What assurance of eternal life do the Scriptures give us that we can testify of our salvation with certainty?
- Personal Application: Do you have assurance of salvation in Jesus? What is your assurance based on? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “Can we really say we have assurance until the end whether we are found faithful or not? Don’t some people deceive themselves about their relationship with God?” How would you respond to your neighbor, and what suggestions would you give to make a small group more effective?
4. Have a volunteer read Galatians 2:20…

- What gifts of grace has God given us?
- Personal Application: What kind of sacrifices have you been called to make for the sake of Christ? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
