Key Thought: The apostle’s testimony was both personal and scriptural. They show how their personal experiences made sense within the context of the Scriptures. Personal testimony and Scripture is very powerful.

A. Have a volunteer read Exodus 16:24-29.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What lessons did the Israelites learn with these instructions in the wilderness?
- Personal Application: How has God blessed you in your honoring Him in keeping the Sabbath? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “My teenagers keep the Sabbath only because we tell them they have to according to the Bible. How can we help our children look at the Sabbath as a positive learning experience?“ How would you respond to your relative?
B. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 58:6-9, 12-14.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- How can we repair the breach of the broken Sabbath today?
- Personal Application: In what ways do we “gather manna or pick up sticks” on the Sabbath? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “Are there many in your church that delight in the Sabbath? Do they honor it, or do they just go through the motions or consider it an unwelcome interruption to their work and play?” How would you respond to your friend?
C. Have a volunteer read Luke 13:13-16.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What principle did Jesus give here about the meaning and observance of the Sabbath?
- Personal Application: Why is Sabbath-keeping important for you? What activities do you involve yourself in on the Sabbath? What do you plan for your children? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “How do we decide what is lawful to do or not do on the Sabbath? What guidelines should we use?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
D. Have a volunteer read Acts 17:1-5.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- How is the Sabbath an educational experience and do we use it that way?
- Personal Application: Do you think it is appropriate to go to other churches and preach to them about our different doctrines? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
