Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: Read Ellen G. White, “The Temptation and Fall,” Pages 52-62 and “The Plan of Redemption,” Pages 63-70, in Patriarchs and Prophets; “The Knowledge of Good and Evil,” Pages 23-27, in Education.   In recent years, studies have been done on what is called Near Death Experiences (NDEs). What happens is that people “die,” in that their hearts stop beating, and … Continue reading –>

Eve and Adam as Exiles

Read Genesis 3:15, Genesis 3:21. What hope can be found in these passages for all humanity? Genesis chapter 3 describes the dreadful tragedy that took over the world after the Fall. Everything changed, and Adam and Eve could see the contrast between what the world used to be and what it had become. But in the midst … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: Consequences of Sin

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 4, 2022 by Sabbath School LessonSeptember 23, 2022avatar
Decaying Earth

Based on Genesis 3:7-19 and Romans 5:12, what were the main consequences of sin? Captivated by the persuasive speech of the serpent, Eve did not anticipate the far-reaching consequences of the road that she was following. In itself, the act of eating from the forbidden fruit was not as significant as what it actually represented. By such an act … Continue reading –>

Jesus Piloting a Ship

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:10 NKJV What if I told you that just as assuredly as you already sinned in Adam, you have also already lived a perfect life … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: “You Will Not Die”

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 3, 2022 by Sabbath School LessonSeptember 23, 2022avatar
Rising Spirit

Read Genesis 3:4. What are the many different ways this lie has been repeated through the ages? One powerful manifestation of this lie is seen in the common belief in the immortality of the soul. This notion was the basis of many ancient religions and philosophies. In ancient Egypt, it motivated the mummification practices and the … Continue reading –>

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 2, 2022 by Corinne KnopperOctober 4, 2022avatar

The theme hymn for this quarter’s studies “On Death, Dying and the FUTURE HOPE” is  Hymn 214 – We Have This Hope. Choice is something God gave to humankind at creation. Still, we may sing Lord, I Have Made Thy Word My Choice – Hymn 273.  May we make further wise choices, with God’s abundant … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
