Hebrews: The Fifth Gospel — 7 Comments

  1. Amen Pastor Earnhardt, what a blessing, thank you for writing this over all message of the book of Hebrews, of which has always been one of my top favorite books of the New Testament, not only for what you have stated but in chapter 4 there is the clearest statement about the Sabbath, in the New Testament.
And it’s a message for all time, ever since it was written but all the more as we draw near to the second coming and with all that is going on to break up the gathering of the Saints, in which Satan loves to use fear, to break up what God has ordained. Also after working in our school system seeing so many of our past students loose heart and turn to the world, just breaks my heart and I wish they to would listen to this great message of the book of Hebrews. So thankful for your insight that God has blessed you with.

  2. I like your understanding of.
Hebrews 10:26. "It is not talking about a willfull mistake, rather unbelief." There is a lot in that word believe. If I believe, I should follow through with action, and ask the Holy Spirit to give me the power to overcome.

Reminds me of. Romans 6:1-9. Now that I fully understand righteous by faith, does not give me the green light to go out and sin. Absolutly not. Rather I walk in newness of life, a slave to God, rather then a slave of sin.

  3. I would reserve this title "The Fifth Gospel" for the Book of Revelation just because it is the "The Revelation of Jesus Christ" Rev 1:1

However, your arguments is very convincing. The Gospels tell the story of how God became man. That God may die. I love your thought about how the main thrust of Hebrews is a retelling of that fact that God became man. (going to steal that for my teacher notes this Sabbath.)

I might have to reorder my Gospel numbers: Hebrews the 5th and Revelation the 6th. Maybe there may be a 7th to make it complete. Lol. I await your response.

  4. I have been inspired by the book of Hebrews and indeed it fits to be the 5th book of the gospels and points out to the second coming of Jesus
