Sunday: Revived Through the Word — 11 Comments

  1. One way that works so well for me is to use the Bible, like something from the book of Psalms, and read it while I pray and talk with God. I think about each line and pray about it. Thinking about God and learning from His Word in prayer helps me when I have special needs as well as daily needs.

  3. Amen Jackie. That sounds like a practice I should take up. I've never thought of doing that before. Thanks for sharing. It's really great to know that for every circumstance n our lives, comfort can be drawn direct from the source, right from the word of God. We don't have to pick up a self-help/motivational book, we can pray and draw strength, reassurance, blessings DIRECT from God through fervent prayer and study of His words.

  4. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psa.119:105. For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,......Heb. 4:12. When we prayerfully study the word of God, we will be blessed with understanding beyond measure; and we will learn to leave the challenges of life in God's hands.

  5. Everything for every circumstances is found in the Word. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...search in the scriptures...I am amazed how David, in every situation look to the word for comfort and hope. I need to adopt that myself, spending quality time in the word, thats why life become so burdesome and miserable, because we do not spend enough time in the Word. Thank you Jesus. Thanks for being that High Priest who knows and understands us, and is willing to save us.

  6. The first time I read John 1:1-2 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." I saw that there was a lot more to the Word of God than words in a book. Christians are really blessed when the Word comes alive and feeds their souls. David sincerely loved God, and God, who lives in the Word, fed him through the Word. Beware of John 5:39-40 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life." According to John I, Jesus is the Word of God, so when I pick up the Bible, my focus is on seeking the life in the Word, so I ask Jesus to let me see what He is saying in the Bible and before long my spirit is stirred within me, and the scriptures light up. This has made the Bible so precious to me.

  7. Revived by His Word...
The heading for this lesson is about being revived by the Word of God. Like David I remembered a young king who once ruled Israel at the tender age of eight. His name is Josiah. Josiah began to reign at the age of eight in Jerusalem and did that which was right in the sight of the Lord. (2Chr34:1-2) Upon being king He embarked on destroying all the high places, groves and carved images and repairing the house of the Lord. In the process of repairing they came across the "book of the law" (2Chr34:14) and brought it to the king and read it for him. When he heard what was in it "he rent his clothes" (2Chr34:19) and he proclaimed a revival in Benjamin, Jerusalem and the whole of Israel. They had a PASSOVER!!! A PASSOVER was a "type" of Christ our Sacrifice(1Cor5:7). This was all done after reading the "Word" of God. WHAT A REVIVAL!!!

I believe we are not doing justice to the Word of God or simply we read without the presence of Him the Holy Spirit. David was revived! Josiah was revived! The inhabitants of Jerusalem were revived! Why are we not seeing Christ like our patriarchs?

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me" (John5:39)
Are you seeing Christ when you search the scriptures? They testify of him remember...
