Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 2: Paul’s Authority and Gospel
“Gospel” is the word that is frequently used for this weeks’ lesson studies. There are two hymns in the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal that reflect on this word:
Hymn 368, “Watchman, Blow the Gospel Trumpet” and
Hymn 378, “Go, Preach My Gospel”.
These two hymns could end up being the theme hymns for this quarters lesson studies.
Paul’s idea of the Gentiles joining the church on “the basis of faith alone was challenged” brings to mind a number of hymns with “faith” being their theme:
Hymn 608, “Faith Is the Victory”,
Hymn 533, “O for a Faith”,
Hymn 517, “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” and
Hymn 523, “My Faith Has Found a Resting Place”, to name just a few.
Sunday’s lesson studies Paul’s Calling. Do you have a calling as in:
Hymn 285, “Jesus Calls Us” or
Hymn 359, “Hark! The Voice of Jesus Calling”?
Pauls’ Gospel shares in Gal 1:3, Eph 1:2, and Phil 1:2 grace and peace:
Hymn 109, “Marvellous Grace” and
Hymn 463, “Peace, Perfect Peace”.
I will leave you with this thought:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: Not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, Neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
