Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 7: Overcoming Sin
Our memory text shows us our first hymn:
Hymn 109, “Marvellous Grace”. This hymn may be used for most of the days’ studies and is a theme throughout the week. The end of our Sabbath Afternoon study gives us our hope in the last words ‘saved by Jesus” :
Hymn 340, “Jesus Saves”.
Are your sins too great to be forgiven? Romans 5:21 shows that grace reigns (Sunday), see:
Hymn 477, “Come, Ye Disconsolate” and
Hymn 114, “There’s a Wideness”. As with last week, if you have the old church hymnal (pre-1985) you will thoroughly enjoy singing Hymn 498, “Yield Not To Temptation”.
Verse 4 of
Hymn 291, “We Have Not Known Thee” shares Monday’s notes “you can choose to serve Him. You can give Him your will;…”
Tuesday returns to
Hymn 109, “Marvellous Grace”. To this one we may add
Hymn 108, Amazing Grace”,
Hymn 607, “God of Grace and God of Glory” and
Hymn 695, “May the Grace of Christ Our Saviour”.
Wednesday’s lesson points out that “only through faith can we have the victory” – Hymn 608, “Faith Is The Victory”.
It is noted in Thursday “the power we have to choose to surrender ourselves and our weak flesh to a new master, Jesus” and this will give us our final hymn,
Hymn 294, “Power in the Blood”. We are “Free From Sin”.
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”. – Romans 1:7
