  3. "Although through our tears and confusion we cannot see Him, He is there. His consistent message to us is “Trust Me,” especially during those times of utter darkness we all face."
There is a story about a woman in John 20. She was confused and disappointed.
11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she estooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, 12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. 14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and new not that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have rborne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, sRabboni; which is to say, Master. 17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet tascended to my Father: but go to umy brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to ymy God, and your God.
Sometimes we really do not see blessings given by our Loving Father.
But Jesus can heal everyone who wants to be healed.
Thanks a lot for your comments! Hope to see new ones for every week!

  4. What is so special about David that of all the people in Christ's lineage, the bible only makes reference to Him as "THE SON OF DAVID"?

    • Isaac, I suggest that,

      1. Abraham and David had been the main "trustees" of the promise relating to the Messiah. It was promised to both those men that Christ would descend from them. And so Jesus is called here, in the opening of the Gospel, "the son of David, [and] the son of Abraham." (Matt 1:1)

      2. Of all the people in Christ's lineage, David was the one to whom the promise of a perpetual throne was first made. (2Sam 7:16, Ps 89:3-4, Ps 132:11.) And David understood, I believe, that he sat upon the throne that rightfully belonged to Messiah Himself. David and his son, Solomon, sat upon "the throne of the LORD" (1Chron 29:23 KJV) - THE THRONE OF THE LORD!; and they knowingly held it in trust for Him.

      3. I find it curious that in the genealogy of Matthew 1, MANY kings are mentioned (e.g. David, Solomon, Rehoboam, Jehoshaphat, Hezekiah, Mannasseh, Amon, Josiah, etc.), but in the genealogy there is only ONE person referred to as a king, and that is David. (Matt 1:6)

  5. I find myself struggling with the notion that Joseph actually believed Mary's story. It seems to me that no "just man" would have even thought of divorcing her -- even quietly -- unless he felt quite sure that she had been sexually unfaithful to him.

I also find it interesting, Curtis, that your article itself contains the suggestion that Joseph believed Mary was guilty of "even outright wrongdoing." Indeed, what other possible reason could there have been for "a schism in the relationship?"

It's an awfully painful thought that Joseph did not believe what Mary had told him about how she became pregnant, and I'm quite sure that he did not behave as coldly as depicted by the actors of "Mary's Song," but I'm afraid that such a horrible misunderstanding seems to have been a part of what Mary was called to endure -- for a short time, anyway.

  6. "Angels attend Joseph and Mary as they journey from their home in Nazareth to the city of David. The decree of imperial Rome for the enrollment of the peoples of her vast dominion has extended to the dwellers among the hills of Galilee. As in old time Cyrus was called to the throne of the world's empire that he might set free the captives of the Lord, so Caesar Augustus is made the agent for the fulfillment of God's purpose in bringing the mother of Jesus to Bethlehem. She is of the lineage of David, and the Son of David must be born in David's city. Out of Bethlehem, said the prophet, "shall He come forth . . . that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from the days of eternity." Micah 5:2, margin. But in the city of their royal line, Joseph and Mary are unrecognized and unhonored." Desire of the Ages, pg 44.

Mary AND Joseph were of the line of David. In all probability, Mary's lineage is via Nathan, son of david's other wives, and seen in the differences in Luke's geneology from David..So where it said "as was assumed Joseph's son", it meant just that...However it should have been written Mary..
