Monday: The Spirit and His Gifts — 5 Comments

  1. Useless is my spiritual gift if it does not and will not benefit another fellow fallen human being, what good is it for if not to uplift the souls?
Utilise yours for the word says you have it!

  2. According to the lesson:
"Although sometimes we may designate some gifts as important or special, in reality all gifts are crucial to the life and mission of the church. While we sometimes place a gifted evangelist, preacher, or teacher on a pedestal, those with gifts that nurture and disciple are just as crucial."

But Paul says in 1 Corinthians:12
"27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts."

He ranks the gifts as "first", "second" and "third" and concludes that we should desire the "greater gifts", so all gifts though crucial cannot have the same "greatness".

  3. Love ...love is the greater gift ...God is Love ...without Him, all is fruit less ...so you see all are the same. Should a foot eagerly desire to be an eye or would an eye be more desirable than a hand. We are all but one body whom Jesus Christ is the Head.

    • They are not all the same because even "love" is ranked against "faith" and "hope"
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corin. 13:13
