The Love of Self Causes Unrest — 8 Comments

  1. It is selfishness that brought the entire universe into a rebellion with its maker. From war in heaven to the end of the same war on earth there will be no peace to any soul without Christ.Heaven itself witnessed the selfless death of a creator of the universe on the cross ; a result of the selfishness and Jealous of Jewish religious leaders working overtime with the prince of darkness/the father of jealousy

  2. There are many peoples in my life that envy when I receives gifts from others. I really didn't think that my own family would feel this way about how things happens for me. Lord please have mercy on me and know I am not bragging about what goes on for me. I'm happy and overjoyed.

    • Emma, if so be it. Have you ever tried sharing with others, the haters and they envy people the gifts you receive to see if their lives will turn around. You can regift a gift. I say to my husband and children they should not be concerned what I do with the gifts that they give me, it is now mine to do what I please.

  3. Great peace have they who love thy law Pam 119:165.

Bro William, what I found out is- many people want to have real peace which only Christ offers without having Christ as their personal Savior. When the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in someone, he brings peace. Peace is a characteristic of the fruit of the spirit. That person don’t have to go looking for peace. Peace is within not without. The peace of the world is found without. When we have that inward peace, whether we have or not, we are content. Whether we have money or not we are joyous and peaceful.

  4. For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 2 Cor. 5: 14-15

It's the agape love of Jesus that compels us to "no longer live for (ourselves)". Lucifer's whole rebellion was based on rejecting God's selfless agape love and trying to institute selfishness as a better alternative. Paul says, "If one died for all, then all died". Jesus died representing the entire human race. "Where you there when they crucified my Lord?" Yes, you were there. We were all there. Truly appreciating the fact that we are each loved with an unconditional, unchanging, and self-sacrificing love compels us to "live for Him". Not in order to try to earn or deserve His love. But simply out of deep heartfelt gratitude for everything He has already done for us. There is nothing more powerful or compelling than the agape love of Jesus.

  5. The most disturbing times in my life have been when what I thought I knew about someone or something turned out to be very different from reality. It was like standing on what I thought was solid ground being instead a quagmire, or worse, thin air. It creates a mental confusion and with it a fear that the foundation of all that I believe is not sound.

These experiences have given me a profound sympathy for those with whom I am sharing the Truth, who is Jesus, the revelation of God in the flesh. Just as scripture says, he is the Rock on whom we may safely build our beliefs. If we set our focus on him, becoming one with him in heart, soul and mind, we will find him faithful to God and to us.

    • Hi Richard

Speaking from personal experience, what you have written is soooooooo... true! If I had just clicked on an "Amen", that wouldn't have been enough to affirm what you have conveyed so well - and honestly.
