The Power of Suffering — 10 Comments

  1. Wow Stephen. Powerful ending. Thank you for reminding us that not all persecution is brought on by our godliness, but sometimes by our ungodliness. While I read this, I can't help but think about a statement Ellen White made in Great Controversy. After years of persecution, something far worse happened to the church, which was compromise with the world.

  2. Thanks so much for all your comments. This one, "He could see in Paul a willingness to endure great suffering for what he committed his heart to" is especially meaningful.

  3. Very very thought provoking writtings. Paul to me is the greatest and most hard worker of all the New Testment. I am very debtor to Paul. Through his ship wrecked at Malta, I am a Christian. I come from the island of Malta. I wish I had a fraction of his bravery, or the way he accepted suffering. I am a gig winger.

    • I am happy to hear from you, Emanuel. We don't often think about Paul's influence for the faith when he was shipwrecked on Malta. Your comment is a wonderful reminder of his ministry there. May we never forget the faith of the believers of Malta.

  4. Very wonderful study, when I was studying I got much worthy ideas, life is more than we think, God makes our life in ways that we sometime cant understand at all, all in all we end up in safely hands of our creator since he is the truly love, thanks friends

  5. Could we be exempted from sufferings? Could we say we are Christ's that in times of trouble we try to negate His example of perseverance and humility? Could we claim that we want the good times and spare us the bad times. Life revolves in a cycle. What we sow, we reap. But to live with Christ through thin or thick, we have heaven and everlasting life to live for eternity. God is so good. He blessed us more than what we give him.

  6. Raul, Thanks for that insight thought. Suffering is part and parcel of our Christan-walk! We become strong and stronger as we face on temptations as Christ did… In fact, we grow spiritually stronger than ever.

  7. As i consider the life and ministry of Paul in this lesson, I am reminded of how I will become when I fully surrender my will to Christ's control and continually choosing Christ in every aspect of my life daily. Paul's life and ministry is the undisputable evidence of Christ's promise of what He can do through us if we establish on the Solid Rock Foundation of Jesus Christ. Paul declared, is not I but Christ who liveth in me. May we be minful our victory in Christ and Christ alone. Thank you for sharing the lesson insight. May the God of all continue to equip you with the Holy Spirit to bring about inspirational thoughts to all of us.
