Will We Need Grace for all Eternity? — 1 Comment

  1. When we were discussing faith last quarter, my pick for opening song at Sabbath School, was Faith Is The Victory. What else could be a reminder for someone who doubts that we cannot have victory over sin till we rise to meet Christ in the air, then to sing the following hymn, taking it to heart. In my collage years I was privileged to have Pastor Morris Venden as our pastor. He would remind us from time to time the necessity of taking the song we just sang to heart, and then proceed with His sermon. Now the apropos song.

    1 Encamped along the hills of light,
    Ye Christian soldiers, rise
    And press the battle ere the night
    Shall veil the glowing skies.
    Against the foe in vales below
    Let all our strength be hurled;
    Faith is the victory, we know,
    That overcomes the world.

    Chorus:
    Faith is the victory!
    Faith is the victory!
    Oh, glorious victory
    That overcomes the world.

    2 His banner over us is love,
    Our sword the Word of God;
    We tread the road the saints above
    With shouts of triumph trod.
    By faith they, like a whirlwind’s breath,
    Swept on o’er ev’ry field;
    The faith by which they conquered death
    Is still our shining shield. [Chorus]

    3 To him who overcomes the foe
    White raiment shall be giv’n;
    Before the angels he shall know
    His name confessed in heav’n.
    Then onward from the hills of light,
    Our hearts with love aflame;
    We’ll vanquish all the hosts of night
    In Jesus’ conq’ring name. [Chorus]

    Yes, without grace we cannot have faith, for it is by grace through faith that we are saved. May I remind all that even our heart beat continuing is by the grace of God who gave His Son to die in our stead for our sins. 1 Peter 2:24. We have a lot to be thankful for and to praise God and glorify His name.

    Will we need grace throughout eternity? Yes. It will be grace of a different kind. There will be no sin. There will be no temptation. Thank-you for the Ellen White quote that answers your question completely for us. We than better start getting used to exalting Christ here on earth for the tremendous sacrifice He gave out of grace for us. exalting Christ we will carry throughout eternity.
    Isaiah 7:14.
    John 1:14.
    John 3:15.
    1 John 4:9.
    Psalm 145:1

    Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within. Grace that is greater than all our sin. https://hymnary.org/text/marvelous_grace_of_our_loving_lord
