Wednesday: The Crucified God

Christ Paying the Price

Death by crucifixion was one of the harshest punishments the Romans meted out to anyone. It was considered the worst way to die. Thus, how horrific for anyone to be killed that way, in particular the Son of God! Jesus, we must always remember, came in human flesh like ours. Between the beatings, the scourgings, … Continue reading –>

13: Christ in the Crucible – Teaching Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 19, 2022 by Michael FrackerSeptember 19, 2022Michael Fracker

Key Thought: The greatest point of Biblical truth is that our sin and suffering were taken upon Jesus. That Christianity is the religion of love and grace that gives us free will. September 24, 2022 1. Have a volunteer read Luke 2:7,22-24.. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important … Continue reading –>

13: Christ in the Crucible – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 19, 2022 by Corinne KnopperSeptember 19, 2022avatar

Having scanned through the lesson quarterly, there are so many hymns from which to choose a theme. In effect, there is a commencing theme hymn that changes through the quarter to the finale theme hymn. To start with, we could use: Hymn 552 – The Lord’s My Shepherd or Hymn 545 – Savior, Like a Shepherd. … Continue reading –>

Agape in the Crucible

Destruction and Sorrow

Critics of Christianity will often argue that Jesus knew beforehand that, though He would die, He would be resurrected to life. Thus, they ask, “What was the big deal about His death when He knew it would be only temporary?” As we take a deeper look at the cross we see the agape of Christ … Continue reading –>

Lamb Being Slaughtered

“And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch” (Mark 14:34). Whatever Jesus suffered throughout His 33 years here on earth, nothing compared to what He started to face in the last hours before the cross. From the eternal ages (Ephesians 1:1-4; 2 Timothy 1:8-9; Titus 1:1-2) the sacrifice of Jesus as the … Continue reading –>

Person Stamped as a Rejedt

Read the following verses, all the while keeping in mind the fact that Jesus was divine, the Creator of heaven and earth, and that He came to offer Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world (Matthew 12:22-24; Luke 4:21-30; John 8:58-59). How do these verses help us understand the sufferings that Jesus faced here on … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The Early Days

Child Feeling Excluded

Scripture gives us little information about the early years of Jesus. A few verses, however, tell us something about those conditions and the kind of world the Savior entered. Read Luke 2:7, Luke 2:22-24 (see also Leviticus 12:6-8) and Matthew 2:1-18. What do we see in these verses that gives us an indication of the kind of life Jesus faced from … Continue reading –>

Part 12: Father is Baptized! By Andrew McChesney The day of Father’s baptism finally arrived, and he arrived with Mother and Junior at Manaus Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, a larger church where the baptism would be held, in Manaus, Brazil. About 400 people were seated in the main sanctuary. Pastor Sergio Alan A. Caxeta, president … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought ~ Dying Like a Seed

Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: Read Ellen G. White, “Eli and His Sons,” Pages 575-580, and “The Presumption of Saul,” Pages 616-626, in Patriarchs and Prophets. Submission to God’s will comes as we die to our own desires and ambitions. This opens the way for true service to others. We cannot live for God without becoming a sacrifice and living … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
