Intimations of Hope – Hit the Mark — 2 Comments

  1. Although I have read The Unlikeliest Hero, I never considered what it might be: a metaphor for God’s redemptive work of love through his Christ. In the battlefield of this earth, the dying lie, cut down by the Adversary, but Son of God comes to rescue each one of us, exposing himself to eternal loss, dragging us from our “Hacksaw Ridge” to safety and new life. No Medal of Honour for him on this earth, just the cross; but in heaven, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.” (Revelation 5:12) All of this because “God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Doss’ buddies went into battle believing that he would rescue them from death should they fall. We can believe that Jesus will rescue us from eternal death for the sake of his love for us even (especially) when we fall.

  2. When we make wrong choices and guilt becomes an obsession, we more fully understand Isiah64 :6. Does God love some more than others? In our finite everyday rational, we would probably say yes. How thankful we are when we seek repentance and forgiveness and a cleansing of our unrighteousness. We should remember 1Timothy 2:3,4, and 2Peter 3:9
