Tuesday: Restoration of Human Dominion
Compare Genesis 1:28 with John 12:31.
What was the status of Adam and Eve in the newly created world? Who seized power and became the ruler of this world?
Adam was given the responsibility to be ruler of the world. When he sinned, Adam’s dominion was compromised. Satan now exercised his power in the creation, causing the corruption and violence that we see everywhere.
After the Cross, however, Jesus won back the earth from Satan’s dominion (see Matt. 28:18, Rev. 12:10, John 12:31). And even though Satan is still allowed to operate on the earth and do damage, we can rejoice in the knowledge that Satan’s days are numbered: Christ’s victory on the cross guarantees that.
Read 2 Timothy 2:11-12 and Revelation 5:10. What truths can we glean from these texts? See also 1 Cor. 6:2-3.
Those who are saved will be given authority as kings and priests. The idea of kingship implies some kind of authority; the idea of priests carries with it the implication of acting in communication between God and other creatures, perhaps even with those from other created worlds, those who have never known the experience of sin and the woe that it brings.
“All the treasures of the universe will be open to the study of God’s redeemed. Unfettered by mortality, they wing their tireless flight to worlds afar—worlds that thrilled with sorrow at the spectacle of human woe and rang with songs of gladness at the tidings of a ransomed soul. With unutterable delight the children of earth enter into the joy and the wisdom of unfallen beings.”-Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy, p. 677.What do you think it means to “enter into the joy and the wisdom of unfallen beings”? What could we learn from unfallen beings? And they from us?
Jesus did came as human being and after analyzing why He came to save me and serve the pain I deserve, its really a sacrifice he pledged on the cross for me and I just thank God coz I can live another day since Satans days are numbered...
Wat we could learn from angels is how to be loyal and serve God, and what angels can learn from us is how to repent from a sinful nature to be born again. We a creation that is just under the angels, so its time we act like it, we a chosen nation, a royal priesthood so let it be and don't let satan degrade you from what God ingraded in you.
Who is not looking unto fulfilment of this promise of restoration?Being able to have dominion over again.Let's look foward to receive this promise.
Indeed! Mpilo you are spot on with your comment. We are counterparts of Jehovah so we ought to act like it. We really should always bear in mind who we are in Christ. So help us God amen.
We can learn from angels how to worship God and be in total awe of him and His power. We say we serve an awesome and powerful God, but our behavior does not reflect our lip service. Daily we say and do things in His presence that shows our irreverence for Him. We can learn how to reverence God from Angels. Angels can learn how to appreciate God (Jesus). He has never had to die for their sins, so they don't know what its like to be totally and utterly lost, and have someone die to ransom them back to Him.
Picked out one thing that even though we sinned and lost dominion,if we die in christ in the new world he will create we are assured of that dominion once more. For the part of unfallen beings I think that means being in that state of mind like the angels who stayed in heaven with christ after the fall of lucifer. Actually we will be like them. A blessed day
Author's comment stated that being kingship implies some sort of kingly authority. My thoughts is that one's first responsibility as kingship is to conduct ones self in the manner of a king or a prince. It may just be that this is as far as it goes. I cannot imagine any of God's creation that requires an authority other than His created beings giving Him homage.
