Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 6
The small illustration at the top of the page for the Introduction brought to mind: Hymn 237, “In The Cross of Christ I Glory” and Hymn 312, “Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross”.
1 Peter 5:10 in the Introduction was repeated again in Sunday’s lesson study, where we are told we will be made strong, firm and steadfast, and I wish to sing Hymn 600, “Hold Fast Til I Come”. Sunday’s lesson may speak of the persecution of the early
Christians, but there is the great hope from this era that resounds through eternity in Hymn 166, “Christ The Lord Is Risen Today”.
The last sentence in Monday’s study says “so that those who believe in Him will have the promise of eternal life”. Hymn 511, “I Know Whom I Have Believed” reaffirms this message.
1 Peter 4:17 commences study time on Wednesday and Hymn 416, “The Judgment Has Set” adds to the study for this day.
If you have an alto singer or counter tenor in your congregation, you may wish to have them sing from The Messiah, No 6 “But Who May Abide The Day of His Coming?” which gives so clearly to the Bible verses in Wednesday’s lesson in Malachi 3:1-6.
Hymn 608, “Faith Is The Victory” adds it’s weight to the Thursday study of Faith Amid Trials. Keep faith in the Lord, brothers and sisters. Hymn 602, “O Brother, Be Faithful” also continues this theme.
“As Peter says, all we can do, even amid our suffering, is to commit our souls to God,” I challenge you to sing Hymn 236, “I Love Thee” with all you heart as the end of Thursday’s lesson reminds us to commit our souls to God.
