Key Thought: Daniel 12 concludes with Michael standing up to deliver God’s people. In spite of an extreme time of trouble, God’s people will remain faithful and lead others to the truth.

1. Have a volunteer read Daniel 12:1-3.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- Who changes the course of history at the end of time?
- Personal Application: What does it mean to be found written in the book? What book? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “Who is Michael? Why do you Adventists believe it is another name for Christ? Isn’t Michael an angel? How would you respond to your relative?
(Note: In Daniel 12, Michael “stands up” – In Daniel 1 three princes “stand up in Medo-Persia. It means to take the kingdom, to rule. Michael is the chief prince. A prince is the Son of a King. Hebrews chapter 1 tells us no angel is called a son of God. Michael in Jude 9 raises Moses dead body. Only God can raise the dead. Michael is called THE archangel – the head or chief of the angels. Jesus is head of all in heaven and on earth.)

3. Have a volunteer read Daniel 12:5-13.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What is this time, times, and half a time they are speaking of?
Note: Time = 1 year = 360 days. Times = 2 years = 720 days. Half a time = ½ year = 180 days. 1,260 days = 1,260 years. 538 AD to 1798AD. - Personal Application: What does it mean that Daniel would stand in his lot at the end of days? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “What are these 1,290 days and 1,335 days? Are they related to the 1,260 days? What does this mean that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away? How would you respond to your neighbor?
Note: The 1,290 years are connected to the 1,260 years by having the same end date – 1798AD. The starting date for 1290 is 508AD when Clovis defeated Rome’s enemies and made an alliance with the bishop of Rome. The 1335 years from 508 would take us to 1843 and the beginning of the Advent message and the proclamation of the beginning of judgment in heaven.
