Thursday: Worship the One Who Made the Heavens and Earth

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 23, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 28, 2018avatar
Christ as Creator

Read again Revelation 14:6-7. What are the specific elements found in the entire first angel’s message, and how do they relate to one another? Along with the gospel, the call to witness to the world and the call to fear God and give glory to Him comes the call to worship God as the Creator. And no … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: The Hour of His Judgment Has Come

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 22, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 26, 2018avatar
Judgement

In the first angel’s message, the idea of fearing God and giving glory to Him is linked to judgment (Rev. 14:7). If the Bible is clear about any teaching, it is clear that God is a God of justice and of judgment. One day the judgment and justice so lacking in this world will indeed come. No … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Fear God and Give Glory to Him

Jesus in the Heavenly Sanctuary

After talking about the proclamation of the “everlasting gospel” to all the world, the first angel’s message then expands on this message. As we proclaim the “everlasting gospel”, we must include the truths that are part of this gospel message for this time. In other words, “present truth” for the last days also includes Revelation 14:7. … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Thief on the Cross and the “Everlasting Gospel”

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 20, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 28, 2018avatar
The Everlasting Gospel

In Revelation 14:6, the message to be proclaimed to the world is “the everlasting gospel”. It’s a message of hope for people in a world that, in and of itself, offers no hope at all. Read Luke 23:32-43. How does this story reveal the great hope of the “everlasting gospel” for all sinners? Writing about the thief, … Continue reading –>

The Word and World: open Bible against a background of the world

Read Revelation 14:6, Matthew 24:14, Matthew 28:19. What is the similar theme found in these texts? How do these texts together help us understand how important outreach and witness are to our purpose as a church? In a sense, one can say that the first angel’s message is the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19) now given in the context of the … Continue reading –>

Memory Text: “Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth — to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people” (Revelation 14:6, NKJV). As Seventh-day Adventist Christians, we believe in the biblical … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought – Matthew 24 and 25

Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: “The man who received the one talent ‘went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.’” “It was the one with the smallest gift who left his talent unimproved. In this is given a warning to all who feel that the smallness of their endowments excuses them from service for Christ. If … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Using Your Talents

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 16, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 18, 2018avatar
Fanny Crosby - Hymnwriter

Read Matthew 25:13-30. What role does using our gifts have in preparing us for the return of Christ? Though Jesus told a different parable here than the one just before, both talk about being ready for the return of Christ. Both deal with those who were ready and those who weren’t. And both show the fate … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: The Ten Virgins

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 15, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 17, 2018avatar
Be Prepared

After His discourse in Matthew 24 about the signs of His coming, in Matthew 25 Jesus talks about how to be prepared for it. Read Matthew 25:1-13, the parable of the Ten Virgins. What is Jesus saying here that should help us understand how we can be prepared for His return? Jesus starts this phase of … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: The “Abomination of Desolation”

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 14, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 30, 2018avatar
The Little Horn

In His great discourse on the end time, Christ points to “the abomination of desolation” (Matt. 24:15), an image from the book of Daniel (Dan. 9:27, Dan. 11:31, Dan. 12:11) . God declared something an “abomination” when it was a serious violation of His law, such as idolatry (Deut. 27:15) or immoral sexual practices (Lev. 18:22). Hence, this “abomination of desolation” involved some sort of … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
