What Romance Means To Me

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 19, 2012 by William EarnhardtApril 22, 2012avatar

You may not think that a man who has been single all his life would know about love and romance, but I do. After growing up in the church and over 20 years of ministry I have seen a lot. What I have seen causes me to take love, romantic love more seriously. The media … Continue reading –>

Monday: Biblical Romances

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 18, 2012 by Sabbath School LessonFebruary 14, 2016avatar

Though the Bible covers a lot of history, it has made time to depict some romances. There was a strong, affectionate bond between Abraham and Sarah. He doesn’t desert her during her long years of barrenness. In fact, it is only at Sarah’s urging that Abraham takes Hagar as a surrogate wife. The ties of … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The First Romance

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 17, 2012 by Sabbath School LessonFebruary 14, 2016avatar

“And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” (Gen. 2:23).1 We need to begin with the initial chapters of Genesis for the first romance in Scripture, that of Adam and Eve. Further Study: God as Artist

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 15, 2012 by Sabbath School LessonFebruary 14, 2016avatar

“Let the converting power of God be experienced in the heart of the individual members, and then we shall see the deep moving of the Spirit of God. Mere forgiveness of sin is not the sole result of the death of Jesus. He made the infinite sacrifice not only that sin might be removed, but … Continue reading –>

Inside Story: One Year for God

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 15, 2012 by Sabbath School LessonFebruary 14, 2016avatar

One doesn’t think of Denmark as a mission field, but with just 2,500 Adventists in the country, there’s a lot of work to be done in this post-modern secular society. To help finish the work youth are volunteering to spend a year serving in various ministries in a program called One Year for God, sponsored … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
